new series.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Basically 300 the series lots of violence and swearing, and topless guys in red cloaks killing people (including romans)

Has had the most appalling reviews ...

It's hilarious.

That might be a slight exaggeration - but running in a window on my screen it was amusing enough.

The wiki entry for Spartacus: Blood and Sand described it's genre accurately as "Blood and Tits" (which it had in abundance) when I looked at it yesterday - unfortunately, some hooligan has subsequently vandalised the entry so it now says "Historical Drama" (don't remember any of that - maybe while I was looking for tissue?).

it is exactly like 300 the series.....(assuming 300 was missing the cast, the effects, the trainning for the cast, the style, the vision the quality of equpiment...and replaced all that with boobs and dead romans.....oh and barbarian types that I had to look at twice to make sure they weren't orcs)

Mini-preparatory-movie-documentary-like-thingummy at a major Greek/Roman museum in Cambridge:

Takes a couple of minutes to watch, staggeringly pretty!

I think it's the same one. It's quite watchable.

I went into "the works" today, y'know the cheap book shop that is always having a closing down sale?

They had a couple of history channel boxsets - I bagged myself an ancient Greek one. There are three in the set, one about Hercules, one about the gods and one other to do with myths and landmarks I think. ABout 180 mins in total - £4.99.

There was also one about Ancient egypt and there probably more in the series.

MAELSTROM: Thromm Gildersson-Novak
ODYSSEY: Diogenes of Isthmia
"REAL" LIFE: Owen Choules
