Really? So odd, I was sure the 18+ -ness was one of the reasons I started playing. ^^; Maybe it was the 16+ -ness I'm thinking of.

I've always thought of Insurrection as 16+
Insurance aside I'm not sure why it seems to matter so much.

Odyssey: Kafele Bakari, Bow wielding Egyptian in white tunic and leather armour, can't miss him. Venerating the great Phoenix by dying as often as possible.
Insurrection: Krull, Hero of the Commonwealth, Hero of the Resistance, neither one deliberate.
Crusades: Jonah, High Inquisitor with a taste (and new-found talent) for burning people
Masquerades and Massacres: Tristan Roth, Navy Commander. Turns out he wasn't out of his depth, just never tried standing up.

Insurance aside I'm not sure why it seems to matter so much.
Legality and appropriateness for (legal) children, probably. Mainly it's a matter of opinion though.
I know why I got the age confused anyway~ (other than fail memory)

I have found it! Back in February 2008 I made this post which says we're 16+. The big reason is insurance, yes, but also child protection and stuff like that is a big issue. And then there's the question of how much people under 16 would get from the game or add to it.
