Knowing what superglue can do do skin (i.e. remove it) and also being aware of what happens when superglue is mixed with water (i.e. give off cyanide gas), which could easily happen if you glue your ears after showering, I'd say never ever, ever, ever do the superglue thing.

Mr Dreadful (7/14/2006) ...being aware of what happens when superglue is mixed with water (i.e. give off cyanide gas)Are you sure about that - because the last time I looked up cyanoacrylate chemistry, water (well specifically hydroxyl ions) was what made superglue polymerise. I can't really see how even a great excess of water would cause liberation of free CN-.

It's what I've been told, by several people, all of whom aren't prone to deliberately spreading misinformation. Maybe it's just Games Workshop superglue that does it... wouldn't surprise me because GW superglue is frankly shit.

The interwebnet reveals that the water-cyanide thing isn't true... however, according to what I've found, commercially available superglue does cause a toxic response when left on skin so it's still not a good idea to use it for making ears pointy

Sorta on topic (sorry heth)
Do any of those of you who have tried the superglue ear thingy knows what will happen if you have the ear tip pierced?
does the gule get into the hole, will it glue my earing in etc....
I've never tried it and wanted to see if anyone had before i did it as tbh i'd never even thought of using superglue untill ubermancer introduced me to the concept
(always had fake pointies, and they always folded sideways so i looked like a comedy elf so funnily enough i'd like to try something else

Mr Dreadful (7/14/2006)
Such as the average commercially available glue as specified in my earlier post. I have personally used nearly every commercially available leading brand superglue and it has caused no reaction. So go figure... That said Spirit Gum works nearly as well without the issues. and yes... people are allergic to spirit gum too...

Which will be a pain in the arse to remove. Remove the earring first... or just use spirit Gum.... it dissolves in alcohol though so don't pour beer on your head.
