| Dude... you actually think that's a good article? The -ist suffix usually denotes a member of a political party or a fanatic. The sub headings are not friendly press, go look at the words in bold again. I don't see why you'd accept such bearly veiled contempt, unless you don't think Spearhead is a good system and are trying to get them to change...

| Actually i thought it was pretty good at being what it said it was - an outsider's view of larp Also have you considered that the article might have been written in a certain style to provoke thought about other people perception of our hobby?
You might want to have a think about what other non larpers reactions are to the hobby - and i dont mean everyone's.
You've only got to look at the past press our hobby has had to realise that its not shiny, and we havent done a lot about it it either (hoping some of the up and coming film projects might change this) No i dont have a bad view of spearhead - if i did i wouldnt be bannering their system. "IST" suffix - Violinist, bassist, journalist, physicist, dentist, copyist, cyclist, archeologist, chronologist, economist, genealogist, geologist, meteorologist, mineralogist, mythologist, zoologist, alchemist But i do agree, it is an uncommon term for a member of the hobby.

By all means feel free to be snotty. I started it. I just got quite vexed that I saw ANOTHER slating piece come up and this time hosted by someone who might have a clue, i.e. you. Perhaps getting them to talk to someone who has a clue, like your friend and mine Allen Stroud might have been a good start, perhaps even, gods forbid, pointing them towards "Role and play" might have been another. Hell, even getting Marios off Pagga to talk to her would have been a huge step to showing that not all larpers are incoherent and socially maladjusted. You're perpetuating a stereotype which annoys me, because, whilst their are a lot of incoherent and socially maladjusted types out there, there are also a lot of interesting people. And by the way, I think you'll find that whilst your list is also on http://www.ling.udel.edu/colin/courses/ling101_f99/lecture12.html that Marxist, Islamist, Fundamentalist, Leninist, Capitalist, anarchist, chartist, communist, leftist, feminist, Calvinist, sado-masochist, racist, sexist, age-ist, size-ist whilst doubtless true of many larpers also carries strong connotations of extreme unified craziness. And how lazy is this reporter that they can't even be bothered to find out what the correct term is? Almost as lazy as Susie Dent, http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0198610122/026-3450250-1032427 Where she said that we're LAN gamers. I kid you not. My brother is into that and he's never ever heard of anyone calling what he does LARP. Any chance of getting someone who isn't a lazy *** reporter to write something vaguely friendly?

Doing my best, getting new articles (apart from those kindly donated) is working out to be like drawing blood..oh you know the saying - (and im struggling to find the time between the day job and the family).
Oddly enough, finding someone interested enough to do an article, who isnt player already, but knows enough about the hobby, isnt that easy (though im badgering a few at the moment) - which to me is a statement in itself.
Coffmeister - i do see your points, but i also thought the article gave a certain perspective, and i thought your post was a little harsh (but thats what views are for). Im doing my best to keep larpguide unbiased, which isnt easy without letting go of a few strings (and holding back myself sometimes). Whether this works or is the downfall of the site i dont know yet.

We seem to be running two debates about the same article. Can we shift all following comments into the other conversation since its has more participants?
