I'd be interested in a pure historical (as in, no fantastical elements) larp, with mininal rules, focused on emotional and social conflicts.

Very interested in how this pans out. Chances are there will be some others too from down here in Surrey.

Also happy to write/run stuff...

13~7

Writing/running stuff….that would be great I see the whole ‘club’ if you want to call it that being run a bit differently than how things are traditionally done. Clubs from my experience tend to fail because tasks aren’t delegated enough. The whole weight of organizing, running, cooking, cleaning, writing, monstering, kit making all usually falls on a few and players stand aloof. I’ d like to see everyone bunging something in the pot and folks taking turns at running bits of the story. I’m dubious of my own ability to run a whole weekend plot wise by myself. I’ve reffed a few systems and have helped things run smoothly but coming up with a whole well paced weekend might be beyond me. So any help in that area would be well appreciated.

The game would be pure historical as in no fantastical elements, anything supernatural will be as would have been then. Based on superstition and belief. The emotional and social conflicts is the area I’d like to work on within the group. It’s not set in stone but I’d like a principal part of the game being based around a kind of low key PvP interaction. Each of the players will have a direction/goal that they want the group to go in and some of the fun will come from how the group interact with each other. I’m not an Angst LRP fan but there will probably be quite a bit of it knocking about. As Brand mentioned earlier the group will be travelling about surviving together, looking for different goals but having to stick together to live. Forming their own kind of mini society and having to form their own kind of social structure. The games might be a bit hardcore in the area of rough camping. I’m not looking at scout camps with showers, it’ll be basic woodland camping and immersive as in no 21st Century stuff about. Really I suppose I’m talking about a kind of historical enactment LRP bushcraft.

Eww. If this is the case, count me out - freeform rules and focus on social / emotional group interactions good, stuff which interferes with my OOC comfort bad. I like my LARP events to come with sufficient food, water and comfortable places / times to sleep, or I fall straight out of character as my OOC needs assert themselves and tell me how I could just get in my car and go somewhere where I wouldn't have to be cold, tired, hungry and thirsty any more.

Do you mean that the things people believed are mostly true? So saints really can intercede if they choose, there is such a thing as heaven, and so on?

So the merry men's camp from Robin of Sherwood, meets the travelling players from The Reckoning- with a healthy dose of Canterbury Tales? I'm up for that.
I guess the "magic" isn't so much that heaven exists 'cos I believe in it, so much as I can access the psychic power generated by everyone believing it does (but only if I believe it as well)?

I'm interested in the game.

I can just about cope without showers for a weekend, but proper toilets are a must. The bushcraft bit is not entirely encouraging, but I know some people who would be up for it.

I'm up for it

One thought - what about hiring out Stockwood, the mud huts fit the LRP bushcraft thing but are waterproof and warm most of the year round (well 2 of them are waterproof) there's also toilets (dry sawdust ones)

think free form honesty rules are OK as long as no-one takes the piss

not really bothered by magic, would see it as no flash bang effects though
