I think it's as many as you like. The requirements for some abilities are that you only get a limited number per day, the ones you listed have different requirements, such as being able to sneak up on your opponent unnoticed.

I think the point of Nerve Strike is that once you use it you're in combat so you can only get one shot in before it becomes unusable.

So I may be small but trust me, I look big enough in my armour and what I lack in size I more than make up for in midget-berzerker-sword-waving-one-legged-foaming-mouth action! Just ask this small pile of mutilated bodyparts that used to be people looking at me funny.

Waylay = Unlimited (Though it does not say it I think this may be changed to an unexpected/unseen blow)

Nerve Strike = Unlimited (But once you use it on someone you may end up in combat quite swiftly)

Backstab = Once a day

Quickdraw = Unlimited

Whoops, forgot about backstab, my mistake.

Very important to be clear on backstab.  Critical Through is one nasty little call.

Re: Waylay, it already says that you need to strike a blow from behind to the upper back (not the neck/head).  Oli and I need to talk about whether or not that means it needs to be from surprise or whether or not it works in combat.  My preference is that it doesn't work in combat but doesn't require surprise.

Okay, some tedious combat-rules questions.

Armour only protects you if it's actually hit by an attack. Suppose that I've decided to layer my armour, with for example a plate vambrace over a sturdy leather shirt sleeve (with the intention of compromising between mobility and protection, rather than with the intention of getting seven armour points on my lower arm which appears to be disallowed). What lammies do I need? What on Earth happens if I'm hit a bit on my upper arm and a bit on my vambrace?

Does knockback do damage? Does the answer change if I block it with a shield?

Do blows to the hand holding a weapon count?

Hola!

To answer your questions:

* layering armour (in order to add up the total protection) is indeed disallowed
* You'd need to buy the leather armour and the plate armour for it to count, and I guess you'd have both lammied as a result
* If you're hit a bit on the plate and a bit on the leather then it comes off the plate, I'd say
* Knockback does do damage (but likely only one point, as you can't stack War skills) unless it hits your shield, when it just knocks you back
* We've not talked about it, but my feeling is that blows to the hand do count

Hope that helps!

Sorry, I wasn't entirely clear with one of my questions. Suppose you have a plate vambrace (five points of armour) and a leather sleeve (two points of armour), then get hit for (say) five singles, three on the vambrace followed by two on the sleeve. What are your armour and arm hits after this beating? Does the answer change if you were hit on your sleeve then your vambrace? (note that, as a human, my interest here is largely academic, so you might prefer to wait and see if the problem ever comes up)
