| The plan is to have Regency roleplaying (trying to find a suitable marriage, duels, political debate) on Friday afternoon/evening and Saturday morning/afternoon. With the horror stuff coming in Saturday evening/night. And Sunday being resolution, debriefing, and so on. Now, 24 hour time in does sound fun. However, is it really needed? Especially if the event is late in the year, there will be plenty of time for people to run round in the dark whilst being attacked by xenomorphs even if we do go to sleep at midnight/1am/2am...

if you are just doing regency stuff fri night you wont need to run through all night, so id go for swich to time ish about 12 or 1 fri night, delibratly early so people can sleep time in at 7 or 8 am, so people will have to get up IC like its 24 hr, then time out as they all get eathen sat night and aim to end 3or 4 am sat night sun morning, should combine the best of both

In my (limited) experience, 24 hour time in always sounds more fun than it actually is. (My experience being one event where we planned 24 hour time in but gave up and went back to the house fairly early on in the night, and one where we had an optional 24 hour time in with some OOC sleeping areas you could go to instead and nobody stayed up.) I don't think I'd try to attend a 24 hour time in event these days, I'd be the irritating person who when woken up by evil alien critters just told them sleepily to fuck off out of my tent or hurry up and kill me already so I could go back to sleep.

| I like the idea of 24 hours, as in you sleep, break fast etc in character. 24 hours being under seige unable to sleep, not so fun. Making a period nightie, plaiting my hair and sharing a room with the other unmarried girls, whispering about the other players and gasping at the girl who dared sneak out to a secret assignation... fun. :-) Basically since the social aspects of the game seem to be just as important as the SF and combat and since in my experience social interaction IC goes on long into the night especially once the monsters have stopped attacking, it'd be nice not to have it interrupted by a call of Time Out. It'd take some working out and would only be possible if you had bunk rooms/sleeping tents of varying capacity, but if it was possible I think it'd add to the game.

I have done 24hr time in with some OC sleepig areas as well as IC sleeping areas. It was fun but it does have its problems.
People get tired and need to sleep but dont want to be missing out on things going on because they were asleep, in that situation having an IC sleeping area is great (although OC secure storage must be provided for OC belongings). Other people just want to sleep and may need a full nights worth (especially those who have work to go to after the event etc) which they dont want disturbing too much by stuff going on, this is where having a strictly OOC area which is away from the main roleplay area (to prevent disturbances).
If you ahve 24hr time in you also have to make sure that you have a ref tram that is available 24hrs. That can mean having to have extra people so that you can sleep in shifts and things.
Another alternative is to have 24hr time in, but make sure that anything between a certain time (say 2am and 10am) is fairly limited. No big attacks or anything during that time, but players can continure their roleplaying if they wish.
