I would add these:

Puerto Rico
War on Terror
Junta
Game of Thrones

To any boardgame list.

I recommend Bang, as a cheap flexible cardgame (plays 4-7, or 3-8 with the expansion)

I also recommend '3 dragon ante'.

You might also want to consider a classic boardgame set (i.e. chess, backgammon, etc) and a good poker/cards set.

------

PD: St. Legion the blessed, ' "If you're a loyal eidolon, where were you when we killed the first-born?"

RW: Ketta Sheng "Girls are evil. They break your heart, and then your spear, and then they get killed"

EOS: Hasib Suran: "Yes, older brother, it's your choice. I only advise you."

TNN: Druid Coran: "Do not heckle me, witch!"

Has anyone mentioned Democrazy?

Card game, based on accumulating coloured beads (and by extension, points). Players can then use cards to propose new rules, which are then voted on (such as "red beads are worth two points" or "everyone with a beard gets a free point"). New rules can be later struck down by popular vote or vetoed.

EDIT - and don't forget Chrononauts, I love Chrononauts almost as much as I hate Fluxx.

I love Arkham Horror.

It's a long game that you will all quite frequently loose. So victory always feels so much sweeter on the times when when it happens. And the feeling of dread as the end comes ever closer just can't be beaten. I love it.

And I love the flavour texts, and the entire mythos it's based on, and the way each game feels totally unique, and... Yes. I love Arkham.

It can be long tho. You need to set aside a day, or a whole evening-late-into-the-morning. So it may not be ideal for a uni group.

Also Apples to Apples (A card game based upon how well you know the rest of the players).
Primordial Soup is my all time favourite game, the expansion pack can be brought on the doris and frank website. Its in german but translations are available online (also increases the number of players).

Edited as primordial soup has been mentioned.

Kung Fu Fighting is a fun fast paced game. People who love martial arts type films esp. With my Dragon stance I do a jumping, flying, spinning, roundhouse kick to your head!

Gloom caters to the people with an evil streak, the player who heaps the most misfortune to their family wins.

Once upon a time, is favorite of mine as well.
