Hey I was needing help with this. I need to make my scales look glossy and shiny due to IC effects.
I wear make-up (Aqua-colour most the time) and often a prosthetic (however that's getting old and its irritating my skin so it maybe time for a new one or leaving it at home)
Any ideas anyone?

Fantasy Worldwide do face paints with a sheen to them without being metallic and they're absolutely gorgeous, you can buy them in the UK from FantasyPaints4U.
Interferenze by Kryolan also has a good sheen to it but you might need a flat colour as a base layer because they can be semi-transparent. Paradise's metallic range, as mentioned already, is kind of shiny too but some of the colours look a bit glittery which you might not want.

You'll not like this, but KY works marvellously. With my Orc costume I do my makeup, lightly (VERY lightly) talc it to seal it, and then carefully dab KY thinly over the skin areas. It then dries to give a shiney, sweaty look that would be ok for scales I reckon.

| KY is fab stuff IF applied very lightly, but u can also get alsorts of girly products like KY that come in spray form and go on a lot more evenly, i love covent garden body oil spray from boots, it smells like oranges and is available in travel size and lasts ages. Alternativly, try the pearlesant lipsticks, glosses etc They come with wands so can be easily applied to target areas. Remember to powder first, the gleam lasts longer!

The problem with making the effect look shiney is that adding oil based products onto water based or oil based make up it will eat into the make-up and corrupt it. Using alcohol based paints then using vasaline works well. The stuff they used on AI is a product by a company called 'Green Marble' its a two part spray that you apply over make up then activate with the other part to make it slick and glossy. Looks really nice but a bit pricey
