| I'm looking for some advice with regards to getting a set of big, nasty teeth for intimidating people at events (i'm planning to play a Nosferatu in my local Camarilla game). I'm looking for something impressive but most importantly, real looking. I've seen too many cheap 'monster teeth' sets that, as well as being very clearly rubber, were also uncomfortable and rendered the user unable to talk properly. I know at least one bod here has used Scream Team cosmetic dentures and they look pretty good, but they don't come cheap. I'd be interested to hear about more reasonably priced alternatives, or just a review that sways me sufficiently to believe that the deluxe option is the way to go. EDIT - Parting thought: I'm keen to find both upper and lower sets. I want them to look like a full set of teeth, after all.

The best way to go is unfortunately to get a dentist to take a mould of your teeth and make a set of caps that fit over them exactly. There are some LRP/Vampire friendly dentists out there but I have no idea how to contact one at present. You may have luck if you ask around at Vampire games or goth clubs. Its expensive but the result is more realistic and the perfect fit means no problems with talking etc.

Right here’s the cheapest and best way to do it. Buy some Polymorph from 4D Modelshop(click for link). It is sometimes sold in art shops as ‘Friendly Plastic’, but costs a fortune when they sell it this way. It’s a white thermo-plastic. Melts in hot water. Just boiled water from a kettle. The great thing is that it’s reusable. You can melt it again and again, until you get it right. So what do you do to make these teeth? You need to take a cast of your gnashers. Well you can use the plastic for this. Bung some in hot water until it goes all soft. Then make sure you don’t burn yourself fish a bit out and roll it into a sausage about as thick as a finger. Curve it and push it down onto your teeth. Do the bottom set and top set separately. It’ll turn out something like a gum shield. DO NOT allow the plastic to cool completely in your gob. It may set hard and lock onto your teeth which would be most unfortunate. Just push it onto your teeth and it’ll take a good impression of them. Next grab some fine plaster. Mix it up it into a watery mix and pour it into the impression in the plastic. You may need to build the sides up by making a wall out of plastercine to make a base, if you get my drift. Give it a few taps to encourage any air bubble to leave. Leave this so set, preferably over night, at least. Now the plaster is all set nice and hard. Drop it all in warm water. This will soften the plastic and you can peel it off, keep this plastic you can use it again. And wow look there’s a perfect cast of your teeth just like the dentists do when they charge you a fortune. So now you need to make some teeth. Use the cast you’ve made and experiment making fangs and such like with the plastic. As I’ve said you can melt this stuff again and again, until you’ve got something you are happy with. You can just make fang tips or a whole false set with bridge bits behind etc. Painting them? Now I’m not gonna tell you to use nasty poisonous paints to colour them. Have a hunt around there must be safe to eat paints about, a lot of food colourings can stain stuff quite well. Have an experiment.

Honestly the money is well worth it if you can afford ScreamTeam dentures. Regard the avatar, left. (Oh hang on, judging by your sig you probably saw me running about with them in at Eos).
They're bloody comfortable, "relatively" easy to talk with (in that I got the over the top ones which meant I couldn't make my lips touch properly) and I *almost* mastered eating with them still in. Only problem was that I didn't mould the bottom set correctly with the thermo plastic and I got an ulcer on the Monday from where it rubbed. Make sure they fit and the ST dentures are really worth the money.

| Which set are yours, the Morlock set? I remember you showing me them on saturday night. I didn't think the price was totally unreasonable - about £25 given the wonderful rate of exchange (they don't slap on a nasty P&P, do they?). I'm interestled in Shelford's idea too - I like to think I'm far more artistic than I actually am though.

Yup, mine are the Morlocks. The exchange rate is brilliant (worked out at £12) and the P&P was for those, the mask, makeup and the ears so split between the items was very reasonable. Not sure how reasonable it would be for just the teeth BUT if you ask nicely I could always add your order to my next shipment once I order my friend's stuff and my spare kit.

Looks like vampfangs.com do these same teeth at $35 + $8 shipping. Have ordered a pair from there instead.
