I was an old EVE Beta Tester - not played for years though. Was one of the original member of the British Space Corporation - we moved to EVE from Earth and Beyond. Good times...

I played the 14 day demo and even though I figured out how it all works, I really couldn't understand in what way it was meant to be fun. I wish I hadn't bothered.

You kind of have to make your own fun really, the missions and random AI pirate enemies are pretty dull IMHO the real game is signing up with a corp and doing PvP stuff. It was quite a bit of fun doing 'complexes' with a corp, fighting off player pirates and getting involved in 'the Great War' that's rolling across the south. However I was faced with a simple choice 'Job' 'Life and a Relationship' 'Playing Eve' choose any two, if you're not careful it can suck up vast chunks of your life as its on 23/7 the PvP stuff never stops.
In many ways it reminds me a lot of Maelstrom, that the game is just a big old framework for large groups to war with each other.
