I have a number of friends who I am trying to get to create an account with rule 7 in order to view our forum. The problem they are experiencing also happened to me and Ive heard about four similar issues since. It seems to be that accounts created using a hotmail email address do not recieve their confimation email and so another email and user name must be selected.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Have you/they tried looking in the junk mail box. Sometimes even though things shouldn't they do go there. Hotmail is an odd beast. I know I have this forum set up using a hotmail account.

Hotmail is annoying. I'm using one of the larger hosting companies in existence for my web hosting and email - and hotmail block their entire IP block from sending email. Personally I couldn't care less about anything m$ decide to do - but one of my friends uses hotmail exclusively and I need to jump through hoops to send anything to him.

Strangely their blocks go up and down randomly, so you can never guarantee it *won't* work...

James can probably deal with this more efficiently than me, but I do have a solution.

If you PM me each of the account names I will open them up, activate them and set the passwords to something generic, then email each of the addresses registered on the forum with their new password. They can then reset those passwords when they log in.

Sounds good,

All of the people I wanted to view the forums now have alternative email addresses just wanted to make sure people knew that it happens.

Thanks

Its a longstanding issue, that I do have a fix on the way for, but its quite complex, and only certain services (AOL and Hotmail) block using this DNS criterion, our hosting setup doesnt naturally lend itself to this particularly well, but we will persavere and eventually get this working fully.
