Ok so im a noob to LRP and im basically after a bit of a run down on the various games systems out there. Ive just booked to go to the the LT unicorn spring parliament as a monster and then i was planning on going the LT games at the end of May IC. The reason i went for LT was mainly because thats where most of my friends go. But just lately ive been thinking that i probably shouldnt just restrict myself to LT events, i should probably see what else is out there. Has anyone got any reccommendations or on the other hand are there any systems to steer clear of as a noob. Maelstrom seems quite popular on these forums, whats that like. Thanks in advance for any tips and advice you might have.

It depends entirely on what sort of games you are after. For example, if you're after gritty low fantasy set in the dark ages, then you wouldn't go to an SF game. What are you looking for in a LARP?

Yea fantasy medievil setting, Im a bit unsure what im after really because ive not done anything like this before, I want something that i can immerse myself in for a bit of escapism. Im planning on putting a lot of effort in to my costume so somewhere with like minded players would be good. Above all i want to have fun and dont want to worry about people taking things too seriously. A few mates have been telling me how LT runs and it seems right up my street but having not experienced and event im a bit unsure what to expect and what to hope for.

What sort of area of the country are you looking at.

Are you after high fantasy (orcs, elves, magic etc)  or somthing low fantasy (somthing closer to real life medevil, majority human, limited or no magic).
