Sorry that I didn't get back to you in time for the june event.

Basically if you bring along £30 for the weekend you'll definately have enough for the event.

I can't remember if there is a new player discount on the first event, but I think so.

Email me at troyhealy@hotmail.com for a quicker response.

Regards,

T

Hello!

Right, to help things further, I am a Ref in the system, and plot maker, as well as a King IC for the system.

When i first joined, i used it as a test out for my new armour, before going to lt, suffice to say, i loved it, although its much smaller, the plot is thick, and its all about politics, and the involvement of characters.

You also have to remember, its a non profit organisation, which is why tickets are insanely cheap, BUT, we still put a good ammount of effort in!

The seaxe msn site is a good start, people can email you the rule book and so fourth from there (there is add ons post the rule book etc, but that pretty much explains it ALL).

If you apply to join there, with your name etc, you will get accepted and involved.

Remember though however, Politics, and IC fallings out is one of the major factors to the system, its a dark age / medieval / high fantasy setting, so all sorts happens, and the different races get into political and racial scraps constantly.

Food is also counted in the price, and there are warm showers as well as proper toilets on the site.

We have two area's for rituals, one is sort of a mini over grown amphi theatre, the other is a wooden ritual area made by us at Seaxe.

Again, my best suggestion is to sign up at the site, and join, introduce yourself on the OOC boards, and we can help.

Alternatively, you can contact me on msn at acamazon@hotmail.com or similar by email.

I really hope this helps mate, and i totally understand the problems you have, since I had similar when i first joined, but people are really helpfull here, and we not only do Larp events, we do School shows, and public displays, as well as charity events.

good luck!

Seaxe&Sorcery: HMS (IC) King Heimer.

Hi People,

As you may have noticed I do not post very often on this board or any others for that matter however I thought it might be an idea to speak up at this point. Seaxe & Sorcery runs three LARP based systems:

HMS a dark ages/high fantasy system with low hits and a family based system where parents can bring along their children and if over five they can join in. Although up until about 12 they have their own plots and adventures. The cost of HMS events are very cheep. This is because it is for families and I have never had any intention of running Seaxe in order to make money from it. Events for one weekend cost between £15 and £25 depending on if you are a member and pre pay. It is very political and guild and race orientated. Please if you are just interested in killing things and getting drunk do not attempt to get involved with this system. If you like to think and want a system which gives you a chance to develop your character over a long period please come along and give us a try.

Realms of Shadows and Sorcery/Shadows: This is an older system run by Mike Cooney. It is older than Seaxe & Sorcery and uses a high Hit points based system it is very high fantasy and has a lot in common with Hero Quest and Labrynth as regards game mechanics. These events are adults only (16+) and if you want to play a killing psycho or an intelligent thinker please do try this system. The events cost more however this is because we get smaller numbers and we churn through props at a higher rate.

COMPANY OF THE HELM: This is a full on free form High Fantasy LARP. The rule book is only four pages and one of them is a cover and another a battle board. This game is open only to people who want to stretch themselves and role-play to the hilt. Ever player can be a ref and every ref plays. It works best on small numbers and cost varies depending on how much sites and locations cost. Most games however are FREE for a one day event or an event on public land.

Most events are fully catoured and all new players are welcome and none get bullied. However that said we do not publish any of our rules in advance on our site which is a bit of a nightmare. We keep on having flash sites but unfortunately site managers are fickle and to be quiet honest I do not want players who judge books by their covers. As I have said before I am not interested in making money out of this. We only use the site as a place to communicate with some role-play done on it. When you join the site we will send you HMS or CoTH rules at your request and we will answer any and all questions. Shadows has no on line rules.

Hope that helps you all. Max and Troy are both good people to talk to as are any of our new players or veterans.

Please do give us a try, if not please do enjoy which ever system you end up playing. There are lots of good ones out there.

Gary Bates,

Chairman of Seaxe & Sorcery

I've been playing Seaxe for well over a year and just want to add a little to Gary's post.

HMS - Low hitpoint, low damage, 6 locations, armour gives extra hitpoints. Battle-boarding is normally once per event depending on how much time they have. You basically have few skills: race, guild(s) and secret guild each provide a selection of 4 skills, you get one skill per level in it (Apprentice, Journeyman, Master and Grandmaster). It's simple, effective, and fun. The one thing that sometimes gets in the way is when the rules are updated and you don't find out about it - same as any LARP system really tbh. While people can die in HMS, it's not that hard to survive, with only one or two deaths a weekend... Lots of missing limbs lately though ;-P

Shadows - Higher hitpoint and damage, more locations, armour gives damage reduction. Battle-boarding is normally once (or more) per encounter. This is an adults-only system with weekend events that are 24/7 (well, 24/3) IC... In other words - don't expect to get a lot of sleep! There is a lot more choice in how to advance your character here, with points being used to buy skills and abilities. Saying that, it is a lot more intense in the playing. Where HMS might just have a theme for a weekend, Shadows gets a series of linear adventures that are all part of the same thing.

CoTH - This is a sort of over-system in Seaxe. It basically is pure roleplay, and the company itself is an invitation group (nothing stopping more groups within it's system). It is generally the one used when we are appearing at shows and fêtes. Basically it is a case of "if you feel like it, then do it - just make it look good". If you want to cast magic, then make sure it looks like you're casting a spell. If you want to attack someone, then make sure you make a good IC reason for it etc. CoTH has less "pure" events than either of the other two systems within Seaxe, but there is often some sort of CoTH adventure during them.

Although I'm becoming increasingly enticed by Profound Decisions, this is still interesting me a little, and as it's been bumped...

Right, the huge, huge problem is accessibility. I get utterly confused by the layout, although I've finally found the event dates (on the message boards). I can't find summary information about the individual LARPS and while I'm sure the community is lovely to new and interested posters, both times I've tried to apply to the group to actually post questions, I've waited a couple months and been rejected.

tl;dr: would be interested if it wasn't so inaccessible.

Sirrah! Why the f*** art thou all up in my tent?

Gary (posting above) tends to accept applications pretty quickly, the problem is that msn groups doesn't always send out an acceptance email, so you don't know you're in. Then a couple of months later Gary does a clean-out of the membership removing people who don't post - and then you do get an email. Apply again and fire an email off to Gary, he'll reply when you're on.

As far as working out where things are on the site - I'm not a fan of msn groups at all, but a couple of decent offers for websites fell through and now it's just staying on there. If you go to the Messages link then you get a list of all the forums on there (that's my bookmark) - event dates are at the bottom of the list, and the General forum at the top is the place to say "hi" and introduce yourself :-)
