Yes I really am that old, we used to go to the local Odeon every Saturday morning, and watch Champion the Wonder Horse, The Banana Splits followed by either a Sinbad movie or one of those Dr Who movies. (I'd have been 7 or 8 yrs old).

What they put that stuff on at the cinema back in the olden days, I thought that sort of thing went out in antiquity of the 50's with the invention of the Tevision as a mainstream method of entertainment.

Is that how LARP was invented people watching movies with like a hundred guineas budget or whatever the currency was back then, using them for their props inspiration.

But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind.
If you approach a game with a positive attitude then you're more likely to enjoy yourself there.

Maybe it was different in some of the more "metropolitan" areas- I didn't even see a Mcdonalds until I went to Uni.

LARP started by people hearing about LRP and trying have some ownership by renaming it!

LRP started 'cos some daft buggers thought it would be a laugh to batter each other with sticks instead of rolling a dice, then got carried away.

Where??? I mean I hear tales of remote crofters Islands in the hebredies with a population of 20 without a McDonalds and maybe Sark in the part of Normandy still held by the Normans and not under Parisian French occupation, but where else would not have a McDonalds???
