Hiya guys
I don't come on this board very often (really, rarely), but I was on 'I-want-one-of-those' and saw these;

I've got one!

It works very well, the range is of course a little limited, but the main problem is the small magazine capacity - only sixteen shots (although I'm sure that somebody in the hobby could build a bigger one).

It's better for protecting indoor areas than for outdoors, but if you need a sentry gun, you could do a lot worse.

How big is it?

Must...  Resist...  Cheap...  Innuendo!

I'ts about 280mm tall (to the top of the magazine), and the Right hand pod with the firing mechanism is about 200mm long.  The top unit is about 270mm wide at the front.  So fairly small is what I'm trying to say I suppose!

It's quite neat though.  There are four firing modes, single shot, then four, eight and sixteen round burst.  That last will empty the magazine though.  Also you can fire it manually with the remote control, although you have to be in front of it to reach the remote sensor - not the best place to stand once it starts firing!

Sound FX are quite nice, if a little bit quiet.  As you'd probably guess from the appearance They're sci-fi noises.

Cool concept. But I'd be concerned about the ease with which they could be disabled. A quick swipe and they'd be rendered out of action pretty easy. Also they're completely incompatible with gun mechanics unless you have a ref keeping watch with the remote at all times.

That said, I'm sure most modern or sci-fi systems could find a use for one as a one-off trap kind of item <plots>
