At a recent social gathering, when someone had brought a baby, many people cooed and well...

I had this idea.

Take any system/world you have or would like, and make it FairyTale.
Specifically, people's toilet parts are just that and, if they exist at all !!, have nothing to do with procreation.

The only way to get a baby is for a mummy [creature] and a daddy [creature] to love each other very much, and hope that a Stork(tm) flies in and leaves tham a baby [creature].
Obvious, for those whose costume style required it, a prosthetic "blank belly button" would be required

Not sure what other FairyTale rules could be introduced...?

But I do think LRP is a hobby best enjoyed in a positive state of mind.

Apparently the Danes have discovered a direct correlation between the number of Storks and Babies in Denmark, which I thought was kind of cool, but apparently it's because Storks like to nest on Chimneys and the Danes tend to build houses instead of apartment blocks.

So when someone is expecting, they build a house and a stork then nests on the chimney.

the belly button is the access point for the soul.

when parents blow rasberries on thier childrens bellies, they eat a piece of its soul.

just so you know.

Are you seeing that as a Rules Clarification?

someones been reading to many scary books ....maybe in the OMEN thats what happened daddy blew on mummies tummy to much so the baby lost its soul and was easy pickings for the devil who of course infested it with a different malicious soul. hehe

The night was cold and the boy new what would come now, more fantastic tales of giants who made chairs out of mountains, of maidens so beautiful you'd eat the sun for but a glance from them, of warriors who's icy eyes cut into lesser mens hearts like fire. But his grandfather started his age old tales differently tonight. " Gather round , ill tell you a tale now of a Prince , the last prince of a fabled land far off. His land had been surpressed under the rule of a tyrant from a neighboring country for many years. This prince fought , and outwitted this tyrant many times . Tonight i will tell you a tale of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd The last prince of Wales.

Hmm, FairyTale rules...

If anyone knows your name, they can do bad stuff (TM) to you.

Virgins really can tame unicorns (not sure that would work with StorkWorld, but it would still be funny)

I'm sure there are other ideas for fairy tale logic. Talking animals fit, but elemental- types or home spirits would fit. Old men doing strange favours, or sending people to do things for their amusement. Ideally, you'd want spirits messing humans around, but you'd want them to have an agenda they pursue, in ways that should be opaque to the humans, or even the spirit players.

Hmm, for the stork idea to work interestingly, you'd probably want deliveries in game. Which may mean players. It could be that people arrive in the world fully grown, but just not fully mentally mature (but walking and talking, of course). And it's just how things are.

Or it could be that children have been kept in the land of storks (or wombworld, or wherever) and have grown to adulthood. Perhaps some old curse that stops childbirth has been recently broken, and now the backlog is being cleared. Potentially willy-nilly, to cut through admin, so arbitrary people end up with children. Who, (of course) immediately recognise the first person seen as their parents, and feel accordingly. Wacky hijinks may well ensue.

That would be highly amusing. Especially if the first game or year of games was about battling against some Evil Thing to break the curse of infertility, and then everyone having  to deal with the consequences of their actions once they had won...
