I made a lovely fully lined Kimono for a Stargate based LRP I did a month ago. I used a normal traditional kimono pattern, and lined the sleeves with normal lining fabric, but the body was lined in satin. The brocade was lovely, I got it imported from Hong Kong.
As I am a curvy gal, I figured the straight lines of an OBI would not suit me so decided to cheat and made an underbust corset instead. The Corset was fully boned with steel boning, and I attatched the Obi tails and cushion on top of the modesty panel. It was a bit fiddly to put on but thankfully I had help with it. I guess if you had very long laces you could lace the corset up loosely at the front, then turn it around to fasten it. The tails are my fabourite part.
Sadly I have to sell it to get the cost of materials back, I shall miss it, but hopes it goes to a good home as it felt utterly lovely to wear.
So it will be ideal for most Fantasy larps, Serenity, Cyberpunk and Sci-Fi and I hear there were Japanese types at Maelstrom too.
If it proves popular I will do them to order.
