James (7/31/2006) £300 To date, since 01 May.
If advertising makes this board less rubbish, go ahead. I never understood Pagga's no advert policy anyway.
Rule7 is crap though. The 'hi allen' page is stupid and pointless. I'd undestand if you were using it to make money (like RPG.net) but you haven't.
You've wasted any momentum Pagga may have generated and removed the useful stuff like the events guide. Well fucking done.
Unless it's funny...

| I take it someone hasn't had their weetabix today? Yeah, the front page could do with some work, but Rule7 is and always probably will be a work in progress. Allen and James are very busy guys, and as well as keeping this place ticking over, they do have other things they need to be doing. Maybe if have concerns about it, it might be more of an idea to phrase your posts more politely and with a tad less negativity, this way you may get a more favorable response. If Rule7 is as shit as you said, why visit anyway? why are you here moaning about it? what brings you here in the first place? Its like Allen mentioned, Rule7 fills the requirements that were needed when Pagga ended. Its not meant to be anything else (May be eventually but for now, its how it is) I would suggest in future, if the front page annoys, then skip it and come directly to the forums by bookmarking the forum homepage (or similar) as I am sure most users here do.
There is no way you can disprove to me that all reality we percieve, was concieved in the mind of a plastic troll. Now hand me my pills.

| [admin hat on] As James has said before, this isn't a discussion area. Thank you or the comment Rule8, and I genuinely mean that, thank you. As a forum, we need to be aware of our users requirements and I agree with you in part about how outdated the front page is. There are reasons as to why it has not been updated, these are numerous, but ultimately aren't an excuse as the page represents our product in those terms. It will be updated within the next few days to something more general for the time being. As I have said elsewhere, Rule7 is a project that fulfills its initial brief. However, it is not a product that any of its creators are satisfied with. We are still, and will continually be working on its development in the foreseeable future. Much like our predeccessors, life changes denote how much time everyone has available to do this, but again, this isn't an excuse. The plans for the front page are ultimately to turn it into a rolling updated posting area controlled by the administrators; much like a magazine site. Many other sites have managed to achieve this quicker than us, granted, however I think it will still be a good innovation. As with many jobs, this will be completed when it comes up on the jobs list as the next thing to do. Advertising is not currently a direction we are intending to pursue, as those of us in the team have fairly busy roles anyway. Until the site is more accessible in terms of editing, these is not really a viable option to pursue in terms of updates. There is also currently no financial requirement. However, in the interests of promoting the hobby and the games being run, I may well put some effort into the matter at a point when our pages are more open to editing. This will also assist us in customising the look of the site. As for the matter of innovation and momentum, well I can only apologise for the fact that you feel we have made you feel this way. I'm not going to promise you answers, nor am I going to ask you to keep faith in terms of when some of these develops can be delivered, but they will be delivered. You can make a mature choice as to whether you feel we are worth your continued support or not. [/admin hat off]

rule8 (3/28/2007) If advertising makes this board less rubbish, go ahead. I never understood Pagga's no advert policy anyway.
We had a different business model, it was flawed, but it worked for us. I don't see how what we did with our money affects Rule 7. rule8 (3/28/2007)
You've wasted any momentum Pagga may have generated and removed the useful stuff like the events guide.Momentum? I suppose Pagga was going down hill at increasing speed when we left it, but I'd hardly call that momentum. Pagga's promotions where dubious at best. Event's data is handled very well by http://www.larpguide.co.uk/ , and you should really have look at the damn forum before having a go. Maybe you could contribute an article as a way of saying sorry?
