| Just watching 'Top 20 Ultimate Super heroes' on Sky One at the moment. They are normally ok, if occasionally inaccurate, but this one has made a massive blooper! Conan. Apparently he is a medieval hero. At least according to the rigourous research done by this programme. I shall say no more and let you all laugh and comment as you see fit..

Apparently he is a medieval hero. At least according to the rigourous research done by this programme. I shall say no more and let you all laugh and comment as you see fit.. Hmmmm..... Conan was a legend before the eponymous books and films….see…. Conan Meriadoc. (Meriadocs a familar name innit...) http://www.earlybritishkingdoms.com/bios/conanmdm.html And for other roots… “The boy's name Conan is pronounced KOH-nan. It is of English, Irish and Gaelic origin, and its meaning is "hound, wolf; high." Anglicized form of Conán (Celtic). The name was also used in Yorkshire from the 12th to the 16th centuries, and in this case, is derived from Conan, Earl of Richmond (12th century), of Breton origin. Name was taken to Ireland some time after the Norman Conquest. In Irish legend, Conán was a member of the Fianna, the band of followers of the legendary hero Finn mac Cumhaill. Saint Conan (seventh century) was an Irish missionary on the Isle of Man. Made famous by Conan the Barbarian, the fictional character from novels and movies in the 1980s.” from : http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/1/Conan 'Medieval' specifically sounds a bit dodgy…. The hero of the books has more in common with the Fianna legends of Ireland.

All the above is true and also the fact that it is specifically stated in several sources that the Conan tales are set in prehistoric times. He is certainly not a medieval character...

The more vexing fact is about half those on the list they put together are NOT superheroes. There is a long debate about what is isn't a super to be had, but I had it too many times as a result of that show and can't be doing with it again.

Here's my 'what the bloody hell are they doing on this list?' comment
Tommy Lee Jones/Will Smith from MiB
Conan
Austin Powers
Flash Gordon
James Bond
Indiana Jones.
And if it's supposed to be the top twenty they shouldn't be putting teams of two or four up there either...
No argument about who won though.
