I don't know how many systems out there use airsoft replicas for their combat system or simply use the replicas as phys reps but it seems that it will be possible to continue doing so for the forseeable future. A letter has been received today from the Home Office confirming that airsoft replicas will not be covered by the ban, a scan of which can be seen here.

Good news, on the face of it. I imagine individual police forces will be bending that one as they see fit, however.

But still, a step in the right direction.

Given that the bill (as far as airsoft is concerned) is about the sale, manufacture and import of airsoft replicas I'd actually be surprised if individual police forces end up 'bending it' as they desire. The talk on some of the airsoft forums suggests that it may end up being airsoft retailers have to be registered with somebody in order to legally import and sell items. At the moment its a case of wait and see though.

Fingers crossed it means that my signing of a petition, various groups letter-writing and lobbying, and all of us who enjoy airsoft and the use of gun physreps in LRP may just have paid off and encouraged lawmakers to employ a little sense when drafting legislation.

No, you probably don't remember my character from the events I've been to.
