Tol (8/6/2006)
I'm definitely getting old though - downloaded the original Monkey Island game last night, and 'forced' Michelle to start playing it. Amazing what you still remember from a game you played 15-odd years ago. Tol

I got all of the Scummvm game on pda a couple of months ago. Monkey island 1 & 2, Day of the tentacle, indy and the fate of atlantis etc, sam and max, etc. Very wierd playing them again, but they are still great fun.

I'm confused, Are you implying games other than World of Warcraft exist?

Not only exist, but are much better than the McMMORPG.

Yeah. Like this little game I heard of called "Root Canal Surgery". Much better than WoW.

This article got passed round the office today

Metal Wolf Chaos - It's West Wing meets Robotech meets Rampage!

It looks like a pure helping of video game joy .

A voice was heard to say, “Who dares disturb the crypt of the Immortal Space Bitches?”
“I am Grimm Shado,” said Grimm Shado, triple wand claws extending. “And I am here to take it to the limit.”

Thankfully I didn't go in for the 360. Only one guy I know did, and the only game he could find worth the £50 asking price was oblivion. Even then, it didn't look as good as it does on a PC.

This is the sort of thing I started to get concerned about when Sega went under. With Sony and Microsoft only facing off against each other, the amount of innovative games seems to be taking a hit. There's just more money to be had running a franchise into the ground (Burnout, THPS, Final Fantasy.) This is one of the reasons I'm happy Firefly stopped when it did, it never started to feel trite. Heck, the only game I'm looking forward to on the 360 is Halo 3, and there's a very real chance they'll cock it up.

Problem is, all this innovation in online gaming, blu-ray players, built in dishwashers, and so forth is a nice touch, but I'd rather see the innovation and originality in the actual games.

Brockie.

Three words:

Laser Squad Nemesis.

It's the only computer game I've been seriously playing for the past 2 years or so; you don't need a console, or even a very powerful computer (runs on a PIII, just). I've bought other games over that time, and none of them has had more than a brief look -- they just don't hold a candle to it in terms of depth of strategy or variability of gameplay.

2 more words:

Dead Rising. Only thing tempting me to the 360.
