"Behind closed doors they had what were legendary battles I hear but when the doors opened there was absolute unity. Not a crack could be found. No separation whatsoever. They were locked together for the good of the community." - Maynard Jackson, Human Politician 1938-2003
Imagine a world among our own behind closed doors - a realm of elementals secretly shaping the world for their own ends. Influencing humanity to further their own political goals, and directly opposing each other through politics, duels and assassinations.
This is the Parliament of Spheres. And you can be among them.

A concept I'm mulling over for a fantasy-based LARP with a modern day setting. Essentially, one or two times a year the elementals of the world (Earth, Air, Fire and Water) meet up at a venue. After checking in they shed their appearance of humanity and hold Parliament.
It takes place over a couple of days, giving the Elementals time to meet, discuss, and perhaps even dual among themselves. In some cases, Elementals die under mysterious circumstances - thought the word assassination is never uttered.
Some ideas mulling around in my head have shades of control over key humans to weaken/strengthen yours or others' elements, dealing with the decline of elemental power and ascendence of science, and forging and breaking of alliances.
In terms of venues I'd be probably be looking at hotels - players would pay for their rooms for a couple of nights, and possibly even some block/bulk booking may be arrangeable. Maybe a small fee for hiring some conference/meeting space.
Really looking for thoughts on the concept? Would people be up for a high-politics, low combat event in this vein?

Xollob (8/25/2006) you mean this game will be like vampire? as for paying for hotels and such i can imagine it would be a none starter really, esp if you charge fees on topI've done LRP in a building we hired for the whole weekend and its not that pricey if you look around. Easier still if the game is modern day you dont have to do set-dressing or look for some Tudor-period pile. Zap-Robo: Is this something were politics can happen in public? If so you can go for Bed-and-breakfast with the conference room hired only for duels etc. It does sound pretty much like Vampire but to be honest, Vampire carries a lot of baggage, I quite like the idea of the setting but I'm put off by a) my own experience playing it (boredom mostly, unclear political systems, OC politics) and b) stories from other people (much the same) So I like the name 'Parliament of Spheres' but you need to tell me how politics will work, why characters attend this event and if its political who polices it. I've been to so called political games which because they were not IC policed simply degenerated into whose got more guns. I've also been to games which were billed as highly political but were no actual political or economic mechanics had been written, so everyone stood around chatting shit with no consequences. Rubbish! Initially I like what you've written but I need to hear more details if you have them.
