This came of the Maelstrom board. It was mentioned that soemtimes people may retire their character instead of playing somone who has been crippled or injured because of the difficulties physrepping the injury. So I was wondering if people have idea of maiming and how these things could be represented in costume and make up and still be cool.
The easy one is having a the missing hand, this can be done by binding the clenched fist in fabric, making a leather cuff to go over it, or a hook
Other ideas for missing ear? always have it covered with a bandage or if you'er hard core glue the top and ear lobe down and cover in blood.
Had your knee cap broken, well there's the excuse for the ulitimate lrp costume prop of the leg brace or at least with a fancy walking stick, perhaps a tipple cane.
Those are just a couple of basic ones but I'm sure the creativity and imagination of folks here could come up with some really excellent ideas.

It never seems to work the same way twice, but it's very, very convincing.
There is only overconfidence and terror.

| That stuff is collodion, scarring liquid. It's available from Morbid Masks, been used variously by a lot of us. It works really well, most people I know tend to add in odd scratchs from whatever recent injuries their character has taken, it also works really well with some colour underneath it for more recent looking wounds. http://www.morbid.demon.co.uk/collodion.html

| Collodion is great small scale - tends to start to peel if you use it unsupported over very large areas. I understand that it can be used with layers of paper/muslin, but have never tried this myself. As to colour, after bitter experience I would advocate adding the colour on top - colour underneath has tended to impair the product's bond with skin. I count myself pretty lucky if my collodion make up lasts more than six hours.
