Is it like the Ch 4 series which I heard was so good?

The only Ch4 UltraViolet I recall was the vampire one, which was superb IMO. This looks quite entertaining, but it's definitely not the same thing.

Saw this mentioned over on pagga first, and it got my hopes up, then I was really disappointed that it wasn't a film based on the C4 series.
If you haven't seen Ultraviolet, I strongly recommend getting a copy - Amazon stock it http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000053W5J/qid=1148546230/sr=8-1/ref=pd_ka_1/203-1042075-0065523

Spookily I saw the trailer while surfing a few hours ago. There is a review on IMDB.

Wow... that's a smackdown and a half.  I quite liked "Equilibrium" but I didn't think it was amazing, just "to standard". So, definitely not the Ch4 series.    A "Silent Hill" of a movie in fact.

I appreciated the attitudes behind Equilibrium: the less-is-more approach to VFX; the indeterminate 'future'; the drab colours reflecting a drab society with that kind of soviet-era architecture. I'm not a fan of the pure-action genre, but Equilibrium is one of those movies I will always have time for.

Ultraviolet doesn't strike me in that way. It looks like an average to good action thriller, hopefully the cast will carry it off. The vampire theme is a little off-putting, though. I just don't get vampires.

Well, I'm quite a fan of vampires and enjoy watching them explode as a general rule.  F'rinstance I liked Blade and Blade 2 (especially the love story).  Equilibrium was let down because of the silliness of the plot resolution*, but that's Hollywood for you.  If they'd done something really clever with it, it'd easily be one of my favourite films and even so I certainly wouldn't mind watching it again.  UV on the other hand apparently makes no sense, so yuk to that.  I bet its even got some annoying pratt in it to ruin it, c.f. Blade 3.

*Gun Kata is also very, very silly, but also very, very cool.  So it goes into er.. Equilibrium in my mind...

Equilibrium is Fahrenheit 451 with an, at the time, fashionable gun-fu twist. Speaking of which, what happened to the 451 remake, it was supposedly in production a couple of years back?

UV strikes me as a 'leave your brain at home' film. This would make it an improvement on some of the action blockbusters of recent years that I thought would fall into that category, but were 'leave your wallet at home' movies instead.

I agree, this looks as mind numbing and pointless as all the "Blade" crud
